The Story Begins:
In which we are introduced to Brandon
My
beautiful, beautiful baby bear,
You turned one today. It seems like just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant. Your daddy and I were so excited. We couldn't wait to welcome you into the world. For ten months we wondered what you'd look like and what kind of personality you'd have.
On
April 21st at 1:13 a.m. you introduced yourself. 8 lbs. 2
oz and 22 1/4" long The cord had been wrapped
around your throat so you were blue and weren't crying. After a
few minutes, you began to cry and wiggle. The first thing your
dad said to me was something in the effect of "what big
feet".
Grammie
said you were perfect and you were! That blonde hair, blue eyes,
bright smile, great personality....Today, on your first birthday,
I can smile and say you still have those traits. You are truly my
little sweetpea.
In
January, I wrote the following in your journal:
"Note to my bear,
You are so smart. You are always amazing me with your wit and charm.
You already know your colors, your shapes, your body parts and you know the bugs from your toy bug collection.
You love to watch Toy Story, Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh.
Mommy was very sick today. I couldn't take you to daycare, though. You sensed I was sick and were such a good boy. You would feel my face and say "K, mommy?" or "love you mommy" followed by a kiss.
Brandon, you are my world...God has blessed your daddy and I. I just put you down for your nap. You are such the little cuddlebug. I can't wait until you wake up so we can play."
Today
we had a small party for you. You had Grammie, Grampie, Shel,
Dust, Meg, Mike, Tom, Grandma, Jenny, Busy, Cari, Cory (Uncle
Chris was bummed because we planned your birthday on his family
vacation....so he was excused :).
You had
your own cake, which you delved into with passion. Boy! Do you
love frosting!
You also received a lot of wonderful gifts and cards. So many people love you! Especially me.
So many people tell me they can't wait to see what kind of people their children will grow up to be. Brandon, I can wait. Because I know you are going to be a wonderful young man and a benefit to society. Plus, I am treasuring every minute we have together...It goes way too fast.
Until
next year!
Love you with my whole heart!
-Mommy
